Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs due to the imbalance of a hormone called insulin secreted by the pancreas in the body. This hormone regulates the flow of blood sugars.
Diabetes occurs due to two reasons The pancreas in the body produces excess insulin, The produced insulin does not reach the body cells and is not converted into energy, instead, the blocks remain in the blood, and over time, the excess sugars (hyperglycaemia) in the blood cause many health complications like diabetes. High blood sugars lead to uncontrolled diabetes and damage the body systems, especially nerves and the blood cells.
Hypertension is a condition of high blood pressure, i.e., a sphygmomanometer reading of over 140/90 mmHg. This means that the systolic reading (maximum) is over 140 mmHg (millimeters of mercury) and the diastolic reading (minimum) is over 90 mmHg.
It may be caused due to age, overweight, stress, alcohol or tobacco use, physical inactivity, low potassium or high salt-rich diet. Serious health conditions like kidney disease, tumors, chronic diseases or medications can also cause hypertension. It may also be inherited genetically. But these are only some of the speculated reasons for hypertension, the actual and precise reason still being unclear.
An adult may experience a temporary increase in the body temperature, often due to an illness. Having a severe fever is a sign that something in your body is not right.
For an adult, a high fever, although uncomfortable, isn’t always a cause for concern. Only when a fever body temperature reaches 103 F (39.4 C) or higher, it rings an alarming bell. In the case of babies and children however, an elevated temperature may indicate a serious infection.
Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms — such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Many organisms live in and on our bodies. They're normally harmless or even helpful. But under certain conditions, some organisms may cause disease.
Some infectious diseases can be passed from person to person. Some are transmitted by insects or other animals. And you may get others by consuming contaminated food or water or being exposed to organisms in the environment.
New, potentially dangerous bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) emerge every year. Previously recognized pathogens can evolve to become resistant to available antibiotics and other treatments. Population crowding and easy travel also make us more vulnerable to the spread of infectious agents. Recent concerns about bioterrorism have focused new attention on eradicated or rare infectious diseases such as smallpox and anthrax.
